A Message From Your Chapter President
Greetings, ARMA Arizona!
As I begin my third term as ARMA Arizona Chapter President and ninth year as a Chapter member, I realize how much has changed. Established members have hung up their Records Management hats and experienced members have taken the lead by spreading their wings and taking more active roles such as presenting, training, and mentoring. I have also noticed new, budding members breaking into this rapidly changing field, thirsty for knowledge and the opportunity to meet fellow cohorts to exchange ideas and make new friends.
There are new technologies, methodologies, terminologies, and educational opportunities around every corner. Baby boomers in our field are slowly dwindling and millennials (born after 1982) are now booming and the future of Records and Information Governance. Our goal is to quench that thirst for knowledge with our programs.
Summertime in Arizona brings us the usual scorching heat, mile-high dust storms, vacations (to escape the aforementioned), and the opportunity for our Board to meet and begin planning for the year’s educational activities. Several of our Board members had the wonderful opportunity to attend the ARMA International Region Leadership Conference in Portland, Oregon. These conferences allow our board members a chance to meet with other board members in the Pacific and Great Northwest Regions. We shared successes and brought back some great ideas.
This year’s Theme
Our focus this year will be on “Engaging our members.” We understand that while we all have extremely busy schedules, it’s easy to just attend the monthly meetings, enjoy a quick breakfast, listen, and plan your escape back to work. We take great pride in planning engaging, educational opportunities for our members, but we also want you to stick around and have inspirational conversations with your fellow members. We have a plan for that.
While we prepare for the faster paced business world, our Chapter Board will stay true to what has made this chapter so successful. In 2015-16, we will continue to promote community service, work on organizing study groups for the CRM and IGP certifications, and lead more productive networking opportunities that will foster relationships where our members can discover and share challenges, successes, and seek guidance. We hope the experienced veterans will reach out to the “newbies” and welcome them into our chapter with open arms. We would also like grow our membership base so that you have the opportunity to learn from an even larger group of experienced Records and Information Governance practitioners. We want to hear from you. We value your thoughts and ideas and certainly encourage your participation.
We have New Board Members
At our season ending meeting in June, we recognized member achievements and introduced you to our new Board. We are all very proud to volunteer and serve as your 2015-2016 ARMA Arizona Chapter Board.
I appreciate the dedication of our Board members and truly value the enthusiasm and passion each ARMA AZ member brings to these meetings. It is a true joy to be a part of this wonderful group.
Thank You Valued Business Partners!
